A tribute to a very Special Man, Husband, Dad, Grandad and FRIEND Tod Butler by Derek Gable

Created by derek 3 years ago

I first met Tod in 1965 when I went to work for Aldis a company near Birmingham, a job the mother of a 19 year old Chick I met on a beach found for me.
Prior to that I was living in Southampton and travelling each weekend to see that cute and lovely Chick.
Tod was slightly older than me and took me under his wing.
Tod immediately became my best friend and soon after that my BEST MAN when I married Pam the cute and lovely Chick from the beach!
Still “The Girl of my Dreams” (56years later!)
Tod was very special in every way, an exceptionally good and creative engineer but most of all a superb human being.
Tod was friendly, kind, reliable, trustworthy and very funny!
In the short, three years we spent in England before I was hired by Mattel Toys and whisked of to California in 1968 Tod, Barbara, Pam and I had many fun adventures together including going on vacation.
Over the years we kept in touch and Pam and I even tried to get them to join us in California.
We had a job lined up at Mattel where our old boss Denis Bosley from Aldis was running the department. I think we were close but eventually Tod and Barbara ended up going to a different part of the States where Tod got a great job in the aerospace industry.
We have often thought how great it would have been if Tod and Barbara lived here in California near by so we could enjoy our special relationship in person.
No question Tod made a huge, positive difference to so many many lives and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
I am sure his example and lessons he taught his children and grandchildren will continue to make the World a better place.
 Rest in peace dear friend
Derek
